Sister Adventures

Little miss Haana decided she will create her own blog. Indeed she has a lot to say, and she is such a great big sister. The kind of big sister who sits her little brother on her lap on the playground slide, carefully adjusts his hand and legs safely and then, slides down the slides, so he can giggle all the way down. Her blog is adventures in sisterhood. Here check it out, and check back often:

I'm always amazed at her creativity and ingenuity. It blows me away :)

Earbuds

I've been working from home for over a year now. There are 2 very important tools for working from home - my laptop and my earbuds. I have no-fluff, barebones earbuds, but I like them. I don't need to charge them. And they're a specific kind that fit my tiny ear, as very few do.

But for all the utility they provide to me, and  for which i really like them; there's someone else who's had his eyes on my earbuds. Bobby. Grabby hands lunge and pull on the wire every chance they get. Every so often he comes over to my work from home desk, and if he can reach out, grabs and pulls on the earbuds wire. I reach to free the poor earbuds from clenched purposeful grippy fingers. As I rescue the earbuds, that doesn't leave Bobby boy too happy. Between happy baby and secure earbuds, I choose secure earbuds, of course!

But the other day, something bad happened. Bobby boy got hold of the earbuds wire, and this time in the usual push and pull between him and me to free my precious earbuds, he actually managed to yank the earbuds off from me. The little notch that controls the volume at the wire got yanked, and the earbuds were broken in two. Little copper wires came poking out. How could this even happen?! That grippy baby fist! And on top of all that, grippy baby was now crying too! Muma was not too happy at the earbuds demise. Turns out Bobby lost interest in it as soon as it got broken too. 'Typical boy!', as little miss Haana would say!

Another Fruit Loop Story

Ever since he discovered fruit loops, little Bobby boy has been crazy about them. He goes up to the pantry and points at the fruit loop box to Papa or Mumma, and then giggles with delight when they get his drift and pour out some loops in a bowl for him to snack. Sometimes he feels generous and shares his loops by offering them to his favourite person at that moment. Other times he feels tricksy, he offers the fruit loop but then takes it away and pops it in his own mouth at the last moment.

Yesterday the little boy was on the couch with his fruit loop bowl in his hand. Little miss Haana was sitting on the ottoman across from the couch, talking to Papa. Little hands offered a fruit loop to big sister. But she was engrossed in talking to Papa and didn't notice this little arm offering a tiny fruit loop. So, little Bobby boy, gingerly got off the couch holding his fruit loop in his hand, went over to the ottoman to little miss Haana's knee, and offered his fruit loop to her. This time she noticed, took his loop and popped it in her mouth, smiled and said thank you boy. She would've grabbed his puffy cheeks but she was busy talking. Mumma saw this whole exchange and yelled "Awwwwle!!". This time little miss Haana jumped up to the little boy, squeezed his cheeks and responded "TOO CUTE FOR MY LIKING!!!". Mumma agreed!!

Fruit loops

Little miss Haana had been asking for fruit loops for sometime. Initially I resisted from adding it to the grocery list. The charm of such unhealthy but popular snacks for her remains only till I pay for it. Usually as soon as she has the first few bites, she's over it, and the rest of the snack bag loiters around in the pantry listlessly. But this time, she continued asking for fruit loops, so finally she and I went out and got them.

As soon as we got back home, she had poured herself a bowl of milk with fruit loops floating. But there was another unexpected loop love waiting to hit the air. Bobby boy saw the colourful loops and had to try one. And another and then another. He was loving it!! 'Where has this goodness been all my life!', he thought. An unexpected hit. Soon that fruit loop box was over. Next grocery list entry - fruit loops- bigger box!

Fireworks

It was July 4th and we had nothing specific planned. Other than shop for home decor to set up the guest bedroom.

Bobby and little miss Haana's Godfather Keith was in town so we met with him over for dinner. Bobby had his chicken nuggets packed from home. Little miss Haana had Mac and cheese and then ice cream. I got a humongous chicken sandwich and finished more than I was expecting to. After dinner we hung out outside the restaurant while Bobby boy inspected the surrounding parking lot. Little miss Haana busied herself with her sketch book. After several rounds of back and forth around the restaurant parking running behind the little boy, it was time to head home after all.

As soon as we got home, I realized we were just in time to see the fireworks around town. We jumped back in the car and headed out. The destination was the lake by our library where we should be able to see the fireworks. Later we realized all the spots are already taken, so we parked by some houses as the fireworks started. Red blue white yellow! It was Bobby boy's first fireworks, and he was quite excited about them. But only for so long. After some time, he had had enough. Little miss Haana and I decided we liked the white colored fireworks the best.

Happy July 4th!

Fountain

The talented little miss Haana makes new art and craft everyday.
This day she made a fountain. Water flowing through a 3 tiered structure made of sea shells, falling down into a pool surrounded with stones. She made it all with hot glue and backyard stones.
Good job little miss Haana and full marks for creativity and engineering.
