Someone likes my hugs

Yesterday at night when I was cuddling up with Bobby boy he asked me for a puchhi (kiss). Is he kidding? No child of mine has ever asked me for a kiss. It's always been the other way round, I'm filling them up with forced hugs and kisses while they try to squeeze away from my grip!
I did as he asked but probably went a bit overboard. A few seconds later he informed me "that's too much, mama!".
Back to reality for me!

Good Luck

A little over a week ago, I was doing some last minute packing for the hospital. Trip to bring home the baby boy Umber. Inside my suitcase I packed along with other things, a few new clothes for the baby.

This hospital visit was to be unusual. Due to the latest pandemic of corona virus covid-19, hospital's visitation policy had changed and no visitors were allowed in the hospital anymore. No one under age of 16 could be inside the hospital. And for labour a and delivery, only 1 support person could be admitted, and that person could not leave the hospital for the duration of the patient's stay. This meant little miss Haana couldn't be at the hospital or see the baby till we got back home.

Little miss Haana was to go stay at her best friend Rushil's place with the ever so doting Ranjeeta aunty and Sai uncle. She was bummed about not seeing Umber at the hospital, but super stoked about spending time at Rushils'. Schools are closed due to covid-19, which translated into a little bit of homework and a whole lot of play in her future!

Meanwhile, I noticed little miss Haana had been fluttering around my suitcase and acting all mysterious. Finally I figured out why. She kept, hidden in my and Umber's clothes, good luck notes with virtual hugs for me, since she wouldn't be there herself. I wasn't supposed to discover the notes until I was at the hospital, but when I saw it, I instantly melted! My sweet girl is so very sweet!!

Temper

I loose my temper way too often. Sometimes it is because I'm trying to do too much. Or at times I have my last nerve and the little girl gets on it. Or sometimes I am tired and run down and everything is getting just a little too much. Moral of the story- it happens. If someone tries to give me the moral speech of what I'm doing wrong, I would passionately defend my stance. But I'm not proud of loosing it.

The other day the little girl was talking to her little doll Merida and I was listening in.
Apparently Merida had been naughty so she was being given a timeout.
But soon after that she was called back again followed by: "Oww, I'm sorry little baby! It's okay, I love you Merida. Aww little baby Merida!" (Hugs and kisses to Merida follow).

The Bathroom

Miss Haana and I went to an Indian fast food place yester-evening. It was cloudy, had been raining all day, and was the kind of day you want to have some fried snacks with hot chai! Or it may just be me hungry in the evening.

Luckily, this place had a vending machine with small knick-knack toys for kids. I paid 50 cents and got us a small plastic container that housed a 2 inch tall plastic monkey.

As soon as the monkey was turned over to the little girl it was greeted to a big heart warming honey-dripping-sweet hug. He may have had a few kisses slipped to him before I interjected and objected to it. Then, she and the monkey shared a variety of activities.

The monkey shared the snacks that Mumma had shared with the little girl. Then, once full, Monkey did some walking on the table (courtesy Miss Haana). The walk was followed by jumps and then hops. More hugs followed. And more super high jumps. Monkey and she shared some secrets (that I wasn't made privy to). The monkey was sent to Mumma (he came to my side of the table briefly) and then was hurriedly called back (he's not safe there).

Then Monkey and her, had a falling off (Monkey was made to stand with his back facing the little girl on the far side of the table). Patch up followed and he was called back again.

Finally Monkey had been out and about just a little too long. He was sent back to his plastic chambers - he had to go to the bathroom!

Then, Mumma thinks, he might have gotten a stomach bug because for the rest of the evening Monkey kept on coming out and then going right back to the bathroom!

Monkey is still in the bathroom as we speak, but he's doing okay- or so he says. I'm not going in :)

It Must Be The Terrible Twos

I know we must be in the terrible two stage now (she's not two yet). Yesterday I picked up Miss Haana from her daycare and was coming home, Raj and I decided to meet at a neighborhood snack place. We met up there and the little girl was delighted to see "Papa!!" there. The next 30 minutes were spent spraying mom and dad with water from a "water cup" using a straw.

Anyhow, we left from there to go back home, I put her back in my car, strapped her in the car seat. And that's when it started. She started crying (very loud, angry crying) yelling "Papa!!". I kept my cool and told her he will come home (after a short detour to groceries). But more crying, tears and "Papaaa!!!!" I could give her a stern, dirty look, but that only makes things worse. I just drove back without a word. That was perhaps the longest 10 minute drive I've ever made. She was crying non-stop. On other occasions, I've actually given up on it, taken over by my concern at her being so upset and crying for so long. This time too I was getting concerned but I stuck to my stance - which was don't respond to bad behavior. Even after we arrived at home, the crying continued. To say I was angry, frustrated and just hopping mad would be an understatement! But I ignored. After sometime she calmed down in the familiar surroundings of home and found her toy friends to entertain herself. Soon she came running to me, "Mumma, Mumma", followed by some more words I now forget. Basically signaling it was make-up time, since I'm my cute-cuddly-baby self yet again. For the first time ever, I was not impressed ( usually I'll be the one excited about whatever she speaks and agreeing with her!). I gave her a look and then continued on with what I was doing. She hung around close to the kitchen, sulking.

Soon Raj came and mom was all but forgotten (I've made peace with that :) ). I  apprised him of the bad deeds. The little girl was happy to have someone who was still talking to her and answering her questions. And then, Raj said "Can you say I'm sorry Mumma". Little girl came up to me and said "Sorry Mumma"!
"Can you give a hug to mumma?"
Little girl came up to me and hugged me tightly.
"Oww! I love you baby!!! I love you" hugs and several kisses after!!!
Yes, that's how it ended.
